DIY Bouquets

Our shop is named “It Can Be Arranged” for a few reasons, one of which is that it can be arranged by you. If I wanted to do all the arrangements myself, then perhaps I’d have called the shop “Flowers by Kara”. Instead, I love it when I have a bride who wants to take a hands-on approach and create her own unique flowers.

Not everyone is cut out for this. Some brides just aren’t creative and some are just downright scared of having the responsibility; but occasionally, a bride has just the right combination of creativity, personality, (and friends!) to take on the task of flowers herself.

Amanda was one of these laid-back, creative types. She wanted a variety of simple flowers with spring colors and had a desire to keep the budget low.  The original plan was to go to the grocery store and just purchase whatever was available to create her bouquets. But the plan left her mother a bit uneasy. After all, you never know exactly what the grocery store will have available.

So this is where my job began, after sending some photos back and forth of some common, simple spring flowers, we decided on a nice mixture of flowers that the bride and her friends could use to create their bouquets. Amanda’s mom had me to create the corsages and boutonnieres and I had the other flowers processed and ready to go when the girls arrived.

When the girls got to the shop, they immediately got started- talking about the wedding details while dividing out the flowers among the bouquets. They slipped upstairs when they were done to grab some coffee and were off on their way to the rehearsal. In about an hour, they created their own beautiful bouquets with the added bonus of being able to take time out of a very hectic schedule to enjoy each others company. Although each girl had the same flowers to work with, they all had an individual, personal look that was uniquely theirs.
